As Lead Apparel Designer at Crye Precision since 2015, I have led the design and development of next-generation combat and technical apparel, working closely with customers, material suppliers, engineers, and manufacturers to bring complex products from concept to production.

ATO™ Cold Weather Line

The ATO-Alpine Terrain Operations™ system was developed in conjunction with customers who operate in severe cold conditions and demand the best performing gear. Built from scratch to be lightweight and packable, it consists of base, mid and outer layers for active and static missions. Every feature, fabric and fit was fine-tuned with select expert customers to create a refined group of garments that work together to not only meet but surpass the requirements and standards provided. The system was tested in extreme cold arctic environments down to minus 40°C for multiple weeks on end. The line is intentionally kept to a minimum and only includes the most critical pieces of kit to reduce bulk, improve mobility and breathability. The system includes:

G4 Combat and Field™ uniforms

The G4 line was developed as a lightweight, streamlined uniform that integrated feedback from key customers who have worn the legacy G3 uniform and were looking for a next gen version. The key innovation for G4 was the fabric. At the time there of development, there were no stretch NYCO fabrics in the market. So I took on the challenge and lead the development of a proprietary uniform fabric partnering with Invista® and domestic weaving/finishing mills to launch VTX Ripstop™. This uniform fabric is the first made is USA stretch nylon/cotton ripstop and is lighter weight, 10X more breathable, and has a higher strength to weight ratio than the standard MilSpec NYCO. The G4 uniform line launched in 2019 and has since expanded to include all-weather protection with the G4 Hot Weather Uniform, G4 Temperate Shell Uniform, G4 FR Uniform and a brand new female fit.

G4 Combat and Field™ Female Fit uniforms

Developed in collaboration with female U.S. special operations military and law enforcement customers, I led the initiative to create a female-specific fit for the G4 uniform line. The project began with customer outreach and market research to understand the challenges women faced with existing uniforms and identify their operational needs. Poor fit, limited sizing, and mobility restrictions were among the key issues.

Working closely with field testers, we developed and evaluated multiple size ranges of prototypes for fit, form, and function, iterating based on user feedback until the G4 female fit was ready for production. The goal was simple: create a uniform that looked and performed like the standard issue uniform, but actually fit the women wearing it.
