Developed in collaboration with artist and technologist Adam Harvey, the OFF Pocket is a privacy accessory for mobile phones that blocks wireless signals. In response to the increase in tracking through mobile devices, the OFF Pocket not only offers privacy protection but it is also a way to unplug oneself from daily distractions.
As the Materials and Design Consultant for the project, I brought the product to commercialization by establishing the fabric and manufacturing supply chain and successfully launching on Kickstarter. The exterior uses a high performance material that is unique and has water repellent properties, so it is durable and protective. The interior utilizes a metalized fabric that blocks wireless signals from entering and exiting the case.
The OFF Pocket was successfully funded on Kickstarter in August 2013 and sold in the New Museum's "Privacy Gift Shop." It has been featured in numerous press articles including Popular Science, Gizmodo and Fastcompany.
